Safeguarding & class rules
Taiji Circle expects all students to treat one another and their teachers with friendliness, respect and politeness at all times. We aim to provide a safe environment for your Chen Taiji and Qi Gong training.
- Please arrive on time for class.
- At the end of class, bow to the teacher to show respect and thanks.
- Professional boundaries between student and teacher must be maintained at all times.
- Inappropriate behaviour or language is not tolerated.
- If you arrive early, please sign in and wait quietly — stretching or standing practice is welcome.
- Please do not practise or demonstrate other martial arts before or after class; this shows a lack of respect for Shifu Liu.
- In Push Hands or Applications work, take care of your partner — do not cause injury or bruising, and only practise the techniques Shifu Liu is teaching at the time.
Health & wellbeing
If you have any health issues, please let Shifu Liu know in advance of your first class, and make sure you have your doctor’s permission to train. Shifu Liu corrects students’ posture in class as part of traditional teaching — if you would rather not be corrected, just let him know.
These expectations echo the traditional Chen family rules of conduct (men gui) — see Chen Taijiquan ethics.
