Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

Taiji Circle runs this website. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

If you have any question about your data, email support@taijicircle.com.

Your account

  • If you sign in with Google, we store your name, your email address and your Google profile picture.
  • If you sign in with an email code, we store your email address and send a one-time code to it.
  • We use these details to run your account: your bookings, class passes, membership and confirmation emails.
  • We use a cookie to keep you signed in.

Bookings and payments

  • Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe’s secure payment page. Your card details never reach our servers and we never store them.
  • We keep a record of what you booked or bought, together with Stripe’s payment references, so we can manage your bookings and meet our accounting obligations.

The newsletter

  • If you sign up through the form in the footer, we ask for your consent and confirm before subscribing you.
  • If you book or buy something from us, we may ask once at checkout whether you would like the newsletter. You can say no there and then. We only use the newsletter for news about our own classes, workshops, events and retreats.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time: every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and there is a newsletter switch on your account page.
  • We record when you subscribed or unsubscribed so that your choice is always honoured.

The class WhatsApp group

  • Sharing your phone number is optional. We only have it if you give it to us.
  • We use it for one thing: adding you to the class WhatsApp group, where class updates and reminders are shared.
  • Other members of the group can see your phone number. WhatsApp is run by Meta and has its own privacy policy.
  • You can change or remove your number on your account page at any time, and you can leave the group whenever you like.

Cookies

  • We only use essential cookies — the cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Videos on this site are embedded using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube does not set cookies unless you play a video.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the services that run this site:

  • Stripe — payments.
  • Google — sign-in, if you choose it.
  • Amazon Web Services and Neon — hosting and our database, in the London (UK) region.
  • Resend — sending our emails, from their EU (Ireland) region.
  • Meta (WhatsApp) — the class group, if you join it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are required to protect it under UK data-protection law.

How long we keep your data

  • Account details: for as long as you have an account.
  • Booking and payment records: up to six years, as UK accounting law requires.
  • Newsletter opt-outs: we keep a note of your opt-out so we never email you again by mistake.
  • If you ask us to delete your account, we delete everything we are not legally required to keep.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email support@taijicircle.com and we will help. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. See also our safeguarding statement and class rules.
