World Tai Chi Day 2018 in Camden Square

On World Tai Chi Day, Saturday 28 April 2018, Tai Ji Circle held a free morning session in Camden Square, part of its tradition of free classes in the park. Despite grey, chilly weather, people turned out to try Chen Taijiquan.

The rain held off, and we practised on the paved area at the top of the square to avoid the muddy grass. It was good to be out training in the fresh air, even if we were all wrapped up against the cold.

Shifu Liu led us through Silk Reeling exercises and then the 9 Part Form, created by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang for beginners. Having worked through the opening sections of the form, Shifu called on our student Gary to show us the applications of the second movement, "Pounding the Mortar".

Thanks are due to everyone who came out, and especially to the Tai Ji Circle students who came to help and to work with the less experienced participants.
